In this role, you will apply machine learning to a variety of domain specific use-cases across Branch’s various teams. This is a generalist role and will provide an opportunity to pick from a wide breadth of problems, applying a good mix of models & methods.

As an Data Scientist Intern, you’ll get to:

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Research, Design, Sales, and Marketing to turn business questions into data problems.
• Evaluate experiments to measure the impact of product changes.
• Define and surface metrics to guide decision making.
• Build models to understand user behavior and predict growth.
• Explore behavior patterns of potential new users and make recommendations on how to scale the growth and adoption of our core products through data-driven strategy.
• Design and develop new data pipelines & systems.
• Build data products and core infrastructure using Python, Java, Kafka.

You’ll be a good fit if you have:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or other quantitative field.
• Strong proficiency with Python or Java.
• Experience with big data systems (Spark, Airflow, ETL).
• Strong understanding of data structures & algorithms.
• Strong critical thinking & analytical skills. Eagerness to learn.
• Good communication skills.
• Available for a 12 week summer internship.
• Live in the Palo Alto area (your internship will be at Branch HQ in Palo Alto).

Our Intern Program:

In accordance with applicable law, the following represents a reasonable estimated compensation range for this role: the estimated pay range for this role, if based in Palo Alto, CA is $47 - $57 per hour.

Actual compensation will be determined based on skills, experience (academic year), and may be more or less than the amount shown above.

This role will be based at our Palo Alto office and follows a Hybrid schedule - Interns will be expected to be on site Tuesdays and Thursdays each week.

Interns will be expected to reside in the San Francisco Bay area during the entirety of the intern program at their own expense. Relocation and housing support is not available.
