Esper is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer/Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Esper Foundation for Android team. As a Senior DevOps Engineer/SRE, you will be responsible for managing and improving our infrastructure and processes related to the Esper Foundation for Android project, based on Android Open Source Project (AOSP). You will work closely with the engineers responsible for development, QA, and operations to ensure smooth integration, build, and deployment of Foundation projects. You will also be responsible for maintaining and optimizing our Foundation DevOps toolchain, including Gerrit, Jenkins, Buildkite, and AWS.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with development, QA, and operations engineers to design, build, and maintain a scalable and highly available infrastructure for Foundation AOSP projects.
Manage and optimize our DevOps toolchain, including Gerrit, Jenkins, Buildkite, and AWS services.
Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes for Foundation AOSP projects.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build failures, test failures, and deployment failures in a timely manner.
Monitor system performance and availability, identify bottlenecks, and propose solutions for improvement.
Implement and maintain security best practices and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Collaborate with development teams to improve build and release processes, and provide guidance on integrating DevOps best practices.
Continuously evaluate and research new technologies and tools to enhance our DevOps infrastructure and processes.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members, and promote a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Preferred Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Minimum of 4 years of experience working as a DevOps Engineer, SRE, or a related role.
Experience with Android Open Source Project (AOSP) development and familiarity with AOSP build system.
Experience with other build systems and version control tools (e.g., Git).Proficiency in managing and maintaining DevOps toolchain, including Gerrit, Jenkins, Buildkite, and AWS services.
Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Bash, Python, or similar).Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis.Knowledge of security best practices and experience in implementing and maintaining security measures.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and handle multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills:Knowledge of cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure).Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK Stack).Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
Understanding of networking concepts and experience in troubleshooting network-related issues.
