About the Role

We’re looking for an Sr. Platform Engineer to assist with our Observability tooling and infrastructure in our India Office.

What You'll Do

  • In this role, you will help to develop, enhance, and support our Observability (o11y) platform. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring its success and continued improvement. As the Highspot application continues to grow globally, this role will provide leadership that will help us scale our infrastructure to ingest and process large logs volumes and hundreds of millions of data-points everyday.
  • At Highspot, you will leverage modern tools and frameworks like Open Telemetry, New Relic, Prometheus, Thanos and others for metrics. Our logging platform is built on OpenSearch and fluentd/fluentbit. Embrace these technologies to enhance efficiency, improve performance, and unlock new insights.
  • Collaborate with development teams to seamlessly integrate their applications into the observability stack, ensuring that our tools are gathering the appropriate metrics/signals that ultimately help engineering understand application performance. Reporting is a large aspect of this role, as you will help build Grafana and Kibana Dashboards for and with our internal partners.
  • This role will also provide a first line of on-call global support for the Highspot applications. You will need to be available to be paged and work to provide incident data points and basic triage for incidents which can then be handed off to development and platform teams for further troubleshooting.
  • Training for the observability stack will also be an important aspect of this role. You will provide runbooks for internal platform operations, but also provide a consultation type of training to development teams. This might include creating recorded videos with demons or slide decks that introduce new tools or features.

Your Background

  • You believe that automation is the key to building humane, reliable, systems.
  • You have strong knowledge of telemetry using tools like Prometheus, Thanos, Grafana.
  • You are passionate about proactive monitoring.
  • You have helped to instrument large-scale SaaS apps and understand how to instrument code for observability.
  • You have experience working with in-house centralized logging solutions (eg ELK or EFK).
  • You have experience working with AWS EKS or a general Kubernetes platform in a production environment.
  • You're proficient with at least two programming languages (we use a lot of Ruby).
  • You have experience in Cloud Infrastructure automation and maintenance (we use AWS and Google Cloud).
  • You have great interpersonal communication skills and work well in a diverse, team-focused environment.
  • You're driven by empathy to support, learn, and guide the team to be successful.
