About the Role
As a Senior Revenue Accountant, you will be part of a successful team that consistently achieves excellent results and fosters a strong team culture. Your primary responsibility will be to support revenue accounting operations and play a crucial role in the monthly closing process. By working collaboratively, you will ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue Accounting, you will contribute to process improvement initiatives as Highspot continues to grow and develop.
Responsibilities
- Help manage all aspects of the revenue month-end close process, including preparing journal entries, performing detailed account reconciliations, conducting flux analyses, and creating disclosures and reporting schedules.
- Ensure compliance with US GAAP standards, particularly ASC 606, for accurate revenue recognition.
- Analyze and review customer contracts to validate proper revenue accounting, including assessing standalone selling prices (SSP), performance obligations, variable considerations, and multi-element arrangements.
- Collaborate with US-based teams to evaluate the revenue impact of new product launches, pricing models, and other business initiatives.
- Refine and scale revenue accounting processes to support US-based revenue streams, ensuring scalability and alignment with global best practices.
- Drive process enhancements and automation initiatives to accelerate the monthly close and reporting cycle.
- Contribute to system implementations or upgrades, ensuring functionality aligns with revenue accounting requirements.
- Assist in external audits to support the timely completion of US audit requirements, ensuring accurate documentation and resolution of queries.
- Address discrepancies in the Order-to-Cash (O2C) cycle, including issues related to invoicing, deferred revenue, and contract modifications.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex arrangements, such as terminations, modifications, and bundled contracts.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of revenue-impacting transactions.
- Mentor and guide team members, fostering knowledge sharing and growth within the revenue accounting function.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting experience specializing in revenue accounting for US operations.
- Strong working knowledge of ASC 606 and its application to Enterprise SaaS, including: Professional Services revenue recognition, Contract modifications and cancellations, SSP determination and bundled arrangements
- Familiarity with US-based SaaS subscription models and billing practices.
- Proven ability to interpret and analyze complex contracts.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets and leveraging intermediate-to-advanced functions.
- Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, particularly Advanced Revenue Management (ARM).
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with US-based teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in US GAAP audits and revenue accounting for global SaaS businesses.
- Familiarity with Salesforce CRM and CPQ, Zone Billing or other Invoicing platform.
- Proven ability to drive process improvements and automation in revenue accounting.
