At Nautilus Biotechnology, we are actively searching for a diligent and talented Instrument Test Engineer to join our dynamic crew. This role provides a unique opportunity to contribute significantly to the quality assurance of our state-of-the-art proteomics platform, directly impacting the future of biotechnology. Your responsibilities will include the design, development, and execution of thorough test plans, as well as data analysis to drive improvements in our instrument platform.

This position reports to the Sr. Director of Supply Chain, Hardware and requires a full-time onsite presence in San Carlos, CA.

Responsibilities

Develop and sustain extensive testing protocols for our proteomics platform, taking into account detailed product specifications and requirements.
Carry out hands-on functional, performance, and reliability tests of the instrument, potentially employing automated testing equipment.
Analyze test data meticulously to unearth defects and improvement areas. You will clearly document and report your findings.
Ensure our instruments meet stringent quality and performance standards, always suggesting improvements when needed.
Cultivate and manage relationships with CMO by taking inputs and creating test procedures to ensure there is proper test coverage.
Collaborate efficiently with cross-functional teams, including R&D engineers, product managers, manufacturing teams, and field engineers to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement of the product.
Keep accurate records of test procedures, outcomes, and equipment configurations, ensuring all test documentation is current and orderly.
Continually assess and enhance test processes, including automation potential, to boost efficiency and precision.
Confirm all testing activities align with industry standards and regulations.
Analyze failure data to identify the root causes and work with engineering team to develop and implement countermeasures.

Requirements

A Bachelor's or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5-7 years' experience and deep knowledge of the industry, instruments, and testing processes.
Demonstrable experience in testing and quality assurance of complex electronic –mechanical, optical and fluidics systems ideally within a regulated industry.
An analytical mind with the ability to interpret complex data.
Familiarity with test automation tools and practices.
Exceptional communication and teamwork skills, enabling effective interactions within a multidisciplinary team.
A detail-oriented approach, problem-solving capabilities, and a proactive attitude in work.
An understanding of Proteomics or life sciences instrumentation, although not necessary, would be beneficial.
Experience with statistical analysis tools and programming languages such as Python would be advantageous.
Knowledge of regulatory requirements, such as ISO 13485 and FDA regulations, would be preferred.
Effectively manage individuals and entities who are not directly under their supervision, with an ability to exert influence without authority.
