Nautilus Biotechnology is seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Director, Software Engineering to lead our software engineering team. This pivotal role will focus on delivering high quality software solutions in alignment with our product strategy, steering them towards readiness for both internal implementation and commercial market entry. You will collaborate closely with leaders in research and development to ensure that our engineering endeavors are seamlessly integrated into Nautilus's overarching mission to transform the life sciences landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the software engineering function, overseeing teams which include pipeline and portal development, instrument control, UI/UX, and test engineering.

  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to align the software engineering team with the company's product roadmap and strategic goals.

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, commercial-ready software solutions.

  • Lead a high performing team while fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Establish and maintain best practices, standards, and processes within the software engineering team to enhance efficiency and quality.

  • Drive software architectural decisions and guide the team in adopting cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards, maintaining robust security and data protection measures.

  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of software solutions, utilizing metrics and analytics to drive continuous improvement.

  • Cultivate strong relationships with external stakeholders, including partners, vendors, and clients, to support product development and deployment.

  • Promote professional development opportunities for team members, encouraging skill advancement and leadership growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 12 years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams.

  • Proven experience in the biotechnology industry or strong desire to learn is preferred.

  • Demonstrated success in taking a software product from inception to commercialization.

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse engineering team.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
