The hiring pay range for this position is based on skills, education and experience relevant to the role; title may be assessed one level lower or higher, accordingly. Other components of total compensation include a competitive options grant at the time of hire (with potential for additional grants).

We are hiring for a Director, Operations to join our growing team. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring Nautilus's Instrument and Flow Cell Operations meet commercialization timelines and compliance standards. As a leader in this position, you will translate the company's strategy into clear operational roadmaps and act as a trusted advisor to the executive team. You will have the opportunity to build and manage high-performing teams and contribute to a mission-driven culture as you help us bring our platform to the world.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with company objectives.
Manage timelines and deliverables for product development and commercialization.
Oversee the production of flowcells and instruments.
Manage the supply chain and logistics, including sourcing, inventory, and distribution of materials and products. You'll also be responsible for architecting complex supply chains with multiple partners.
Ensure operations comply with FDA, GMP, ISO, and other relevant regulatory standards.
Control operational budgets and resource allocation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, QA/QC, and commercial teams, to drive results.
Implement and optimize systems for quality assurance and control.
Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
Build and manage teams across manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics, fostering a culture of accountability and innovation.
Report on operational performance metrics to senior management and adjust tactics as needed.
Lead teams through periods of rapid growth, transformation, and scaling with clarity and confidence.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Business is required; an MBA is often preferred
Experience: 6-10 years of experience working in Biotech, Pharmaceutical Operations, or Medical Device companies, including leadership roles
Skills: Strong knowledge of GMP/GxP compliance and regulatory landscapes is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma
Experience implementing ERP, MES, or Advanced Planning Solutions
Experience with semiconductor manufacturing and packaging processes
Experience with a product introduction that achieved 510K compliance
Experience leading operations at a company that scaled to over $500M

Compensation Range: $189K - $252K
