About the role
We are seeking a Senior Director of Marketing with experience in B2B cloud-based subscription software to lead our marketing strategy and execution. You will work with our leadership team to prioritize markets and value propositions, engage with the product team to turn these priorities into market-leading products, and drive the company’s positioning, packaging, pricing, and messaging decisions. You will be one of our company’s key voices with internal and external audiences.
You will lead a team that includes a Senior Product Marketing Manager and a Senior Demand Generation Manager. You will enjoy taking a hands-on approach and will be eager to continue to build our marketing function. You have the skills and ambition to grow alongside the company into a senior leadership role.
What you'll do
- Develop and own the marketing strategy—from positioning to packaging and pricing—in close partnership with the executive team, sales, product, and engineering teams.
- Lead product marketing, corporate marketing, public relations, competitive intelligence, and analyst relations for Pendulum.
- Shape and evolve Pendulum’s brand story, clearly communicating our value proposition and differentiation in a crowded space.
- Oversee our demand generation team, setting and then achieving goals for lead generation, sales opportunities, and revenue impact.
- Provide guidance on measuring marketing performance, track what’s working, iterate on what’s not, and manage marketing spend to maximize ROI.
- In the near term, roll up your sleeves and work alongside the team to deliver on our objectives. Balance strategic thinking with tactical ownership and execution.
- As the company scales, build and lead a high-performing marketing team. Identify skill gaps, recruit talent, and foster a culture of creativity, performance, and ownership.
What you've done
- Must have 8+ years of marketing experience and 3+ years of director-level experience at a B2B cloud-based enterprise software company.
- Led, mentored, and grew a team of at least 2-3 marketing professionals across marketing strategy, product marketing, and demand generation.
- Have successfully led teams in developing messaging, packaging, and pricing strategies that align with each market segment at B2B SaaS companies.
- Led the expansion into various market verticals, exploring and understanding what is important to each buyer and creating unique messaging and packaging that aligns with their needs.
- Demonstrated leadership ability, with experience mentoring or managing others, even if informally.
- Data-driven—able to define metrics, interpret trends, provide regular reporting to leadership highlighting successes, challenges, in developing messaging, packaging, and pricing strategies, and investment opportunities.
- Ability to make decisions that drive business outcomes.
- Experience in early-stage startups and/or high-growth environments; comfortable with ambiguity and building from scratch.
- Honed exceptional communication skills with a keen eye for creating marketing strategies that resonate with executives on different teams at Fortune 500 companies.
- Preferred but not required: Marketing leadership experience in the social listening and marketing management industry, serving Marketing and Communications teams at Fortune 500 companies.
