About the position:

As a Cloud Control Plane Architect at Qumulo, you will help to develop Nexus, our single pane of glass management portal to deploy, manage and monitor Qumulo clusters in public clouds such as AWS and Microsoft Azure as well as physical instances on customer premises. Qumulo's Run Anywhere™ architecture enables customers to deploy clusters anywhere there is a need for storage and manage them from a central location via Nexus.

A successful candidate in this role will work closely with feature teams within engineering to improve observability by implementing secure connectivity to remote Qumulo clusters enabling robust metrics and functional data to be gathered securely for monitoring and proactive maintenance purposes. The candidate will also architect a robust data pipeline to process and present detailed performance and usage metrics so customers can make informed decisions on how their Qumulo clusters can be utilized. Experience in orchestrating large distributed systems control planes is preferred.

This position does include an on-call rotation which requires availability to respond to critical incidents impairing our owned applications.

Responsibilities:

To be successful, candidates :

  • Will collaborate with various product teams within the organization to create high level designs solving complex problems
  • Will analyze designs and create statement of work with various feature teams
  • Will provide work breakdown structure and delivery estimates for each feature
  • Will have experience building secure and scalable cloud native solutions
  • Will be able to troubleshoot complex systems including networking, operating systems, data stores and security apparatus
  • Knowledge of various compliance regulations such as HIPAA, SOC and PCI is a plus

Technologies:

  • Experience working in Linux
  • Experience with Python, C/C++ or similar programming languages
  • Experience with system orchestration tools (such as Ansible, Terraform, and cloud specific implementations like AWS CloudFormation) is preferred.
  • Experience with one or more of the major cloud providers (AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Functional working understanding of Kubernetes and working with containers to manage applications (we manage clusters in our on-prem locations as well as in the "cloud")
  • Experience with monitoring tools and technologies (we use a combination of home grown solutions that utilize OpenMetrics as well as tools like Grafana, InfluxDB, and Prometheus)
  • Experience troubleshooting systems issues
  • Experience with remote network connectivity solutions such as Tailscale is a plus

Key Benefits

The annual pay range for the role in the is USD $200,000.00 - $280,000.00. Individual pay depends on various factors, such as role level, relevant experience and skills, and location. Pay ranges are reviewed and typically updated each year. Offers are made within the pay range applicable at the time.
