How you’ll make an impact

Spotnana is searching for a Sr Staff level DevOps engineer to join our growing global SRE team.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure and compliant systems for our Travel as a service platform. Your expertise will be essential in collaborating closely with software engineering, operations, and infrastructure teams to build and manage highly secure and available systems to ensure the high reliability, scalability and resilience of our platform.

What you’ll own

Design, implement, and maintain secure and highly performant systems on cloud platforms that support our applications and services
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security practices, performance considerations, and operational efficiency into the development and deployment lifecycle
Drive automation initiatives to enhance security measures, compliance requirements, and performance optimizations across our infrastructure and applications
Implement and manage robust database solutions, ensuring data integrity, availability, and efficient performance across various database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, etc.)
Collaborate with the development team and conduct database performance tuning and optimization to maximize application responsiveness and minimize query latency
Collaborate with development teams to design, implement, and optimize database schemas, queries, and indexing strategies
Implement and manage effective security monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions for databases to identify and respond to security threats and performance issues
Participate in database incident response and post-incident analysis, contributing to the improvement of incident response procedures
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud security, database operations, and site reliability engineering
Provide guidance and recommendations to improve database security, performance, and operational excellence
Collaborate with compliance and risk management teams to ensure alignment with regulatory and industry-specific standards
Participate in on-call rotations to provide rapid response to incidents, security threats, and outages

Experience to bring with you

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience)
10 years of experience in site reliability engineering, cloud security, database operations, performance tuning, or a similar role
Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Go, Java, etc.)
Expert level of experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and container orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). AWS solution architect certification is a big plus
In-depth understanding of security principles, practices, and technologies, with relevant security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSK, AWS Certified Security) being advantageous
Extensive experience with designing and implementing high availability and resiliency models to support automatic failover and DR scenarios
Extensive experience with database management systems (SQL and NoSQL) and performance tuning techniques
Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to implement service deployment, UAC, security controls and database configurations. Familiarity with security assessment tools, vulnerability management, and threat modeling
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. Experience with incident response, on-call rotations, and post-incident analysis is a must
Ability to work in an open office environment in a hybrid structure in Palo Alto, CA - This is not a remote-eligible role

Spotnana strives to offer fair, industry-competitive and equitable compensation. Our approach holistically assesses total compensation, including cash, company equity and comprehensive benefits. Our market-based compensation approach uses data from trusted third party compensation sources to set salary ranges that are thoughtful and consistent with the role, industry, company size, and internal equity of our team. Each employee is paid within the minimum and maximum of their position’s compensation range based on their skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related specifications.

The annual cash compensation for this role is: $200,000-$240,000
