Elevator Pitch

Stacklok is seeking a Staff Product Manager to define product strategy and advance our mission to make it easier to securely develop software. You will play a pivotal role defining compelling and competitively differentiated capabilities, communicating our roadmap to internal and external stakeholders, understanding our customers and users deeply, and bringing new products and capabilities to market. This is a unique opportunity to drive early product strategy in the confluence of developer tools, open source, and security, and have an outsized impact on product direction at a fast-paced startup.

Role Success: 6-12 Month Expectations

  • Understand the software supply chain security ecosystem, market, competition, and user requirements in depth within the first 3 months of joining. This will require you to consume material voraciously, get hands-on experience with existing tools, and dive into discussions with users and customers.
  • Partner with Stacklok founders and VP of Product to refine and map the corporate strategy to specific product requirements within the first 6 months of joining, leveraging your understanding of the market and Stacklok’s core differentiators. This will require you to identify differentiating capabilities, understand customer needs deeply, and clearly communicate how your vision will drive business impact.
  • Partner with engineering to deliver and launch new products and features within the first 6-12 months of joining, evaluate their performance, and iterate quickly. This will require a data-driven approach and an ability to collaborate closely with and influence teams including engineering and marketing.

In this Role, You will have the Opportunity to:

  • Use your deep insights into target markets, the competitive landscape, customer needs, and industry trends to inform product strategy.
  • Own short- and long-term feature definition based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competition. You will lead the product through various stages from inception to launch to continuous improvement.
  • Partner with engineering to drive successful product releases. You will be engineering’s connection to our customers and will be responsible for bringing them along for the ride.
  • Engage frequently with customers and community members to learn about their needs, and support sales and customers in a pre- and post-sales capacity.
  • Envision and deliver new capabilities from concept to launch and rollout, including customer validation, marketing plans, documentation, and field enablement.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product marketing, and sales.

We know from experience that not ticking every box on the skills sections stops many from applying. Please apply regardless of your self-assessment -- we want to hear from you! We have seen engineers succeed with a diverse range of skills and experiences.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience delivering multiple products from concept to adoption in the security, developer tools, and/or cloud domains in fast-moving environments.
  • Experience partnering with technical leaders with an ability to deep-dive into complex technical concepts across multiple domains.
  • A data-driven and business-oriented mindset, using qualitative and quantitative insights to drive product recommendations with an understanding of how untapped needs translate to business impact.
  • Experience building and bringing to market open source tools, with a track record of open source engagement and community building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
