If you have a passion for helping developer communities, open-source software, and want to be a part of our amazing team, we'd love to hear from you!

Summary

We're looking for a Software Engineer to join our high-impact team focused on product scalability, customer experience, and revenue growth. Our team manages essential services including customer onboarding and off-boarding, billing and metering, cloud marketplace integrations, and **Cloud Nexus.** Cloud Nexus is a foundational platform that connects Temporal Applications through a scalable, self-service ecosystem with a unified API abstraction layer.

In this role, you'll work on systems that directly impact Temporal's revenue and customer journey. You'll collaborate with engineers, product managers, finance, revenue operations, support, and sales teams to create seamless customer flows and build reliable, scalable metering and billing infrastructure. If you're passionate about owning business-critical systems and working with diverse technologies in a supportive environment, we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

  • Build and Maintain Critical Systems: Design, build, and maintain mission-critical systems that power Temporal's customer acquisition funnel and revenue operations infrastructure.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with Finance, RevOps, and Sales teams to understand core business requirements and transform them into scalable, effective engineering solutions.
  • Contribute to Cloud Nexus: Design, develop and scale a key primitive which enables multi-cloud connectivity between Temporal Applications across teams, domains and regions.
  • Ensure Data Integrity and Reliability: Develop, test, and maintain code for distributed data systems. Your work will safeguard the critical metering pipeline that drives almost all of Temporal's revenue.
  • Grow With Mentorship: Receive guidance from experienced engineers while building expertise in Go, Kubernetes, Temporal, and cloud-native technologies like Kinesis, Redshift, Stripe, and more.
  • Drive Improvements in Developer and Customer Experience: Identify opportunities to streamline customer experiences through automation, better tooling, and strategic system enhancements.

Technology Stack

  • Primary Language: Go
  • Data Storage: PostgreSQL, Redshift, S3, Google Cloud Storage, Blob Storage
  • Data Processing: Kinesis, Firehose
  • Infrastructure: Kubernetes
  • Third-Party Services: Zapier, Stripe, Segment, Pylon, Metronome
  • Core Framework: Temporal (of course 😉)

This role is ideal for early-career engineers who are curious, collaborative, and excited about building infrastructure for a hyper-growth company.

What You'll Bring

  • Hands-on experience developing software systems or services through coursework, internships, personal projects, or early professional roles, preferably in cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as Go, Java/Scala, Python, or similar.
  • Passion for building scalable, distributed systems and eagerness to deepen your knowledge in this area.
  • Understanding of (or interest in) concurrency programming and how systems operate at scale.
  • Interest in databases and storage technologies like Postgres, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, or similar systems.
  • A breadth-focused mindset—able to integrate various systems to create robust, seamless experiences.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset for working in small, supportive teams.
  • Enthusiasm for learning in a DevOps environment, including deploying and maintaining systems in production.

What You Can Expect

  • Fast-growing company with significant momentum
  • Collaborative engineering culture focused on excellence
  • Exceptional technical colleagues who inspire growth
  • Streamlined processes without unnecessary bureaucracy
  • Strong emphasis on delivering impactful results
  • Action-oriented approach balanced with system reliability
  • Commitment to incremental improvements and rapid iteration
