WHO WE ARE

Uplevel is engineering intelligence for the enterprise. Engineering leaders use our system everyday to make key decisions, gaining data-driven insights so that their teams can ship products effectively and efficiently.

Our mission is to bring people, process, and operational insights together to catalyze change in engineering organizations and accelerate business value.

OUR VALUES

PEOPLE FIRST: We humanize work for our employees and customers and work with others that do the same.

PROGRESS OVER PERFECTION: We are solving a problem that’s never been solved. This calls for creative innovation.

EMPOWERED WITH DATA: We seek data to help us learn, define, solve, and iterate on the problems.

About half of us are Seattle based but we are a remote-first company and hire wherever we can find the best talent. We offer some of the best benefits of any smaller company including generous vacation, a robust health plan, 401(k), professional development, and much more.

THE JOB - PRINCIPAL SDE - INTEGRATIONS

As we scale our business, we are searching for an experienced software developer to join the team as we scale our data integrations. This is an opportunity to have an immediate impact, expand on your existing skill set, implement cutting edge approaches to get near to real time data processing, and grow with us as we tackle exciting new challenges.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Review existing connector architecture and direct projects needed to prepare it for scale - in terms of quantity of data, processing speed, and even implementation speed

  • Partner with the rest of the engineering team, and our data analysts, to implement best practices in our integration workflow

  • Create the best configuration experience that balances ease of setup with the complexity of each underlying data source

  • Reimagine monitoring and alerting for these systems and how we can stay ahead of ingestion issues before the customer needs to be involved

  • Get involved in raising the bar on all operational aspects of the engineering team

WHAT IS IN IT FOR YOU

  • Be part of an ambitious early stage startup where we have clear goals, work swiftly under pressure, have strong attention to detail, and put the customer experience first

  • Solve one of the biggest problems in software development: helping engineering teams operate as effectively as possible.

  • Industry leading levels of employee benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), flexible PTO, paid holidays, and other competitive benefits designed to improve the lives of our employees.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of experience working in software development where unstructured data is a core element

  • Experience building and maintaining data collection systems at scale

  • Experience with defining operational best practices for how data is collected, stored, and retrieved across multiple teams.

  • Expertise in multi-tenant application development, and a thorough understanding of the intricacies of well behaved clients of RESTful APIs and webhooks

  • Strong background in facilitating discussions around patterns and architecture

  • Significant experience in mentoring others and leading large scale technical initiatives

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience collaborating directly with product managers and leaders to translate product vision into work items

EXTRA CREDIT

  • Experience with specific developer tools (such as GitHub, Jira, or Jenkins) at the API and webhook level

  • Experience with IaC such as Terraform for building infrastructure

  • Experience with administration and deployment of SaaS applications as a customer
