We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to join Vilya’s Medicinal Chemistry team in South San Francisco for 12 weeks during the summer of 2026. Reporting to our Principal Scientist - Discovery Chemistry, this fully onsite position will play a key role in expanding our platform technology and advancing orally available macrocycles into the clinic.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Synthesis, purification and characterization of high value building blocks, intermediates, and macrocyclic peptides
- Evaluation and implementation of state-of-the-art organic and peptide synthetic methodologies for the design and synthesis of novel chemical structures
- Provide regular progress updates to the chemistry and cross-functional research teams
- Maintain an accurate and detailed electronic lab notebook
- Adherence to all safety and environmental regulations
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in an organic chemistry research laboratory having run many small molecule reactions
- Enrollment in an undergraduate degree program. Chemistry majors are strongly preferred
- Recent graduates with a BS in chemistry are also encouraged to apply
- Completion of undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory courses
- Enthusiastic and self-motivated with strong time management and multitasking skills
- Impeccable scientific integrity
- Scientific curiosity with positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
- Ability to work onsite in our South San Francisco office
VILYA INTERN COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
- Wage: $25/hour - $45/hour, based on a combination of education and experience
