Principal Engineering Manager, Platform - Hybrid - Seattle

What we’re hoping you bring:
Business impact & customer obsession: A laser focus on delivering backend services that power real customer value—tying decisions to business outcomes and user delight
API & system architecture expertise: Deep experience designing scalable, maintainable APIs and backend systems, with a bias for moving fast and learning by building
Enablement partner: A collaborative mindset—translating customer and product needs into platform capabilities that accelerate delivery of engaging features across the organization.
Operational excellence: Hands-on leadership of SLO/SLI definition, empathetic on-call rotations, and incident response processes that strengthen reliability without unnecessary complexity.
About You:
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 1 year in people management
Expert in backend languages and frameworks (e.g. Go, Python, Java, Node.js) and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Hands-on experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS/etc)
Strong operational chops: on-call leadership, SLO/SLI definition, monitoring, alerting and capacity planning
Demonstrated ability to define and execute multi-quarter platform roadmaps in partnership with engineering and product stakeholders
Extra credit experience:
Familiarity with Document DBs, Elastisearch, and BigQuery (or similar technologies)
Experience with security, privacy, and compliance programs (SOC 2 Type 2, GDPR, etc)
Prior startup experience
