About the position

The Copywriter will work on the frontlines of all Crowd Cow communications with customers. Your writing will capture and uphold our brand character, which is curious, knowledgeable, optimistic, straightforward, unpretentious and upbeat. With one eye on brand, and the other on marketing goals, you’ll write copy that wins smiles, clicks, shares and sales, through website, emails, promotion and social copy and any other touchpoints that involve customers.

You’ll dig deep into the stories behind our partner farms -- and into the culinary world -- identifying the punchy topics and key points that emphasize and reinforce the quality, diversity, selectivity and unique origin of each of the incredible craft beef and meat products we feature day in and day out.

This is a contract position working at least 20 hours weekly for three months, with potential to convert to full-time permanent afterward if mutually desired. Our hope is to find an individual who is a great fit and will join our team for the long-haul and be an instrumental part of fulfilling our mission.

Why we’re excited about you

  • You define yourself as both a marketer and a writer (meaning: you understand working backwards to create content designed to illicit actions, and how to create content for different stages of the customer awareness lifecycle; Most of all: your career aim is content marketing -- and you’re a great writer)
  • Ability to quickly absorb and implement our new brand voice characteristics across multiple properties (mainly the website and lifecycle program to start)
  • Ability to iterate swiftly and juggle multiple projects in a high-volume, fast-paced environment, working under pressure and meeting deadlines
  • Work across the marketing team to ensure creative work is cohesive, effective and on brand and a willingness to use data to optimize copy (example rate A/B testing email subject lines)
  • Professionalism and ability to communicate with people up and down the organization
  • You’re versed in the best practices around online marketing copy. Particularly email, paid search and SEO including keyword research
  • You’re creative. Concepting: campaigns, promotions, naming, hooks, subject lines and headlines

  • Collaborate with the marketing team in the ideation and implementation of marketing content and concepts that will drive strategic business objectives
  • Create clear, clever copy which translates the benefits of each of our products to persuade the customer to purchase
  • When a new farm is introduced to the Crowd Cow portfolio, interview producers (farmers) over the phone to tease out additional information that will help make that farm, its ‘story,’ and its products shine
  • Create a “mini brand” for each farm, and document what makes each farm different and unique from the rest of the portfolio

Experience

  • 2 years of brand copywriting experience preferred. E-commerce and food/farm experience a plus, but not mandatory
  • Online portfolio demonstrating your best campaign work across various platforms
  • Must be proficient in the Google suite and a quick learner of various online project management tools (Asana preferred)

We are a West Coast based company, so daily cross over with PST hours is required
