Responsibilities: What You'll Build & Own
As a Cloud & Implementations Engineer at Scala.ai, you are the bridge between our core technology and our customers. You will be responsible for designing and building the cloud backend infrastructure, services, and APIs that power our platform while also leading the technical implementation of customer data and services.
In our early startup environment, you must be a "jack-of-all-trades" who can run fast and make quick decisions to meet short-term customer demands while keeping our long-term architectural goals in mind. Because this role involves direct customer interaction, exceptional English communication skills and a professional presence are essential.
- Cloud Architecture: Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient backend infrastructure and APIs using modern cloud-native principles.
- Customer Implementations: Act as the technical lead for onboarding customers, ensuring their data and services are successfully and efficiently implemented onto the Scala.ai platform.
- Customer Interaction: Meet face-to-face (virtually or in-person) with customers to gather requirements, troubleshoot technical hurdles, and communicate complex architectural concepts clearly in English.
- AI Agent Configuration: Architect, configure, and deploy sophisticated AI agents tailored to specific customer use cases, ensuring they interact seamlessly with the Scala.ai platform.
- Pragmatic Execution: Make high-judgment trade-offs to meet deliverable timelines and customer expectations without sacrificing long-term system integrity.
- Automation & Scaling: Build and manage CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) to ensure our deployment processes are as fast and flexible as our team.
- Startup Versatility: Be willing to take on any task, initiative, or role required—even those not strictly in your job description—to ensure the success of the company and our customers.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience, with a focus on cloud infrastructure and backend services.
- Deep expertise in AWS, GCP, or Kubernetes (K8s).
- Strong proficiency in Python or Go (GoLang) is required.
- Extensive experience with Prompt Engineering and a deep understanding of how to optimize LLM outputs for production environments.
- Proven track record building and configuring AI agents, including orchestration frameworks and tool-use protocols.
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to lead technical discussions and explain complex systems to both technical and non-technical customer stakeholders.
- Proven track record of designing and building APIs and architectures that scale with large volumes of data.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform).

Salary & Benefits
- $75,000 - $175,000, depending on experience and location
