POSITION: Sr. Commercial Development Manager – EAST

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Commercial

DEPARTMENT: Commercial

STATUS: Exempt

TWINSTRAND BIOSCIENCES OVERVIEW

TwinStrand Biosciences is a Seattle-based genomics company focused on developing cutting-edge approaches for early detection of cancer, treatment optimization, and risk prediction using our ultra-accurate TwinStrand Duplex Sequencing™ technology. Our technology enables researchers to detect genetic “needles in a haystack”. By identifying ultra-low frequency DNA mutations with a resolution 10,000-fold greater than conventional tools on the market, TwinStrand enables detection, quantification, and characterization of variants that were previously undetectable.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sr. Commercial Development Manager is a member of our field-based team and interacts with a wide range of customers within the life sciences fields, across different disciplines. We're specifically looking for a team member to join our sales team to represent, primarily, the Eastern U.S. Your role will be to establish and manage lasting relationships to promote TwinStrand’s ultra-accurate Duplex Sequencing™ technology via our end-to-end solutions, including comprehensive biochemistry, cloud-based software, and assay development partnerships. You will work closely with our respected Field Application Scientist team to best position the attributes of our technology portfolio and leverage your network of Key Opinion Leaders and C-level relationships to expand the opportunities for our technology to have a positive impact.

Success in this role requires a significant ability communicating across technical teams and possessing a deep understanding of next-generation sequencing platforms, applications, and markets. It will similarly necessitate a strategic mindset and a passion to understand and meet customer needs and advocate on their behalf. The responsibilities of this role extend significantly beyond that of transactional sales; achievement will be broadly viewed, not only based on short-term product uptake, but also upon inroads made into long-term adoption in both research and regulated markets.

In this role, you are an ambassador for our technology through training, co-travel with our Field Application Scientist team, and early mentoring to facilitate your rapid transition to a role with a high degree of independence. You will have support from our Field Application Scientists and Marketing teams but will be afforded significant autonomy to develop your own approaches and style for presenting the technology.

Through close customer relationships you will also serve as the eyes and ears of the company. You will form a crucial link between the market and our R&D and marketing teams. You will bring back experiences, challenges, customer input and your own suggestions to help TwinStrand continually innovate and expand our product portfolio, resources, and training materials.

EXPERIENCE AND CAPABILITIES

  • Master’s degree in life science or business degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful sales experience in the diagnostics/life sciences industry or highly technical product portfolio sales experience using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).
  • Outstanding track record of successful teamwork with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with clinical and translational research in genetic toxicology.
  • Additional experience in oncology, genetics and experience interacting with physician-scientists preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the competitive landscape, market drivers and trends likely to influence adoption within different application areas.

  • Genuinely celebrate the achievements of customers and colleagues and take pride in a culture of setting others up for success.
